Our goal is to become a climate-neutral company. As an internationally operating trading company, we bear responsibility and try to noticeably reduce our CO2 emissions with our measures. Together with our partner Climate Partner, we have developed a strategy and already successfully implemented measures.
ClimatePartner is a leading provider of climate protection solutions that combine individual advice with cloud-based software that is unique on the market. Clients can use it to calculate and reduce CO2 emissions and offset remaining emissions.
Our strategy
The first step of our strategy is the calculation of our CO2 emissions. In the second step, we set and implement our targets with corresponding measures. In addition to reducing emissions in our own company, we finance a climate protection project and thus create compensation for emissions that unfortunately cannot be prevented. We have chosen a combined project and support the dissemination of portable cooking stoves in Mahashtra/India. 85% of the households in this state still cook on traditional cooking stoves. The high wood consumption leads to high indoor smoke pollution, which is a major health risk.
The portable cooking stoves are made of cast iron, require less firewood (= minimising deforestation in the region) and reduce indoor air pollution and CO2 emissions.
It is not only the Maharashtra region that benefits from our commitment. For every tonne of CO2 saved through the contribution via the certified climate protection project in India, 10Kg of plastic is collected in regions close to the coast. This intercepts plastic before it enters the sea and protects sensitive marine ecosystems.
In 2015, these goals set out a roadmap for the future that will enable people around the world to live in dignity while permanently preserving the natural foundations of life.
Each climate protection project from the Climate Partner portfolio contributes to several of these goals. To make this effect visible, the SDGs are shown for all projects.
